Service Pack Three releases a new single on April 25, marking the first original song from the electronic music project of Greg Bueno.
“If I My Luck Ran Out” is actually a rock song that would have fit well in the Eponymous 4 catalog. But none of the instruments on the track are live — they all use sample libraries.
In a further twist, the singers featured on the single are also vocal synthesizers. The actual voices powering the synthesizers probably don’t even know the song exists.
Music technology has come a long way since Eponymous 4 debuted in 2008. This track would not have been possible back then.
The enigmatics makeover continues with a reissue of the 2015 single, “enigmatics IV.” The three-track maxi single includes two additional tracks not issued with the enigmatics EP.
“Wrong Again” marked the first time Eponymous 4 used a house beat in a song, while “Acid Vogue” attempted to make acid house music without actually listening to any acid house.
Service Pack Three remixes the title track to include a revamped break, while “Acid Vogue” turns into the quasi-industrial track it was meant to be, complete with vocal samples from TV and movies.
As with “enigmatics II”, this reissues features the Upgrade Mix by Service Pack Three and the Update Mix by Eponymous 4. The single arrives on Bandcamp and streaming services in August 2024.
The debut EP from Eponymous 4 gets reimagined by Service Pack Three, a new Observant Records project. Eponymous 4 originally released enigmatics in 2008 and reissued it in 2013. More than 15 years later, this five-track EP exploring electronic and new age music gets a makeover.
“enigmatics II” is the first single to emerge from this remix project. The double A-side single features the Upgrade Mix by Service Pack Three and the Update Mix by Eponymous 4. The single arrives on Bandcamp and streaming services in August 2023.
